Why attend this conference

Resilience and well being

It can be difficult for people to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change, such as the challenges imposed by Covid-19, but also other changes that affect people’s well-being.  The TOC for Education tools and methodology enable people of all ages (4 and up) to develop resilience. In so doing, they develop the ability to cope with adversity and to be happy and successful again after something difficult or bad has happened. Moreover, despite all the technological and scientific improvements of the last few centuries, people still struggle to cope effectively with the unresolved internal and external conflicts of daily life that adversely affect people’s well-being and peace of mind.  This result impedes learning, success in the workplace, and societal harmony.  Those who so passionately strive to motivate and lead students, employees, citizens, and even families need the support of simple yet profound critical thinking and communication tools that get repeatable results as noted in these applications to:

* Bullying
* Resolve Conflicts Without Blame
* Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention
* Children Who Have Been Abused
* Enable Youth Under Stress to Make Healthier Choices
* Sports Teams
* Enhance Self-Efficacy Throughout a School System
* Create Win-Win Conflict Management
* Create Dynamic Resilience Organizations
* Lead a Group During a Pandemic
* Create Responsible Decision Making and  Behavior in Schools
* Develop win-win mindsets in Prison Inmates

A Unique Critical Thinking Methodology

Critical thinking is a widely accepted educational goal that is fundamentally needed by everyone in order to make and act on informed decisions.  The TOC tool kit and methodology uniquely enables people to identify and challenge the assumptions needed for breakthrough solutions as well to communicate them in a way that improves  civil discourse and interpersonal relationships whether in a classroom,  a boardroom or the home. These desired results require a methodology that is effective with both visual and verbal thinkers and is  simple, graphic,  practical,  and works without regard to age, culture or political systems.  Taught through existing curriculum in schools, home education or online learning, the  generic techniques enable students to gain confidence  in their capabilities to  succeed academically as well as to transfer the problem solving techniques to real life, thereby making learning relevant as noted in such applications as:

* Students’ Class Examples of TOCfE Thinking Tools for Building ‘the Muscles of Mind’ to Overcome COVID-19
* Using TOCfE Thinking and Communication Tools in Parenting
* How TOCfE Tools Enhance Critical Thinking
* Teaching  Critical Thinking to Young Learners Who Can Not Yet Read or Write
*  How to Write A Logical Essay
* Use of a TOCfE Tool to Build Reading Comprehension Skills
* Problem Solving Maps for Math
* The Erasmus Project to Teach TOC Critical Thinking to Teachers in 3 European Countries
* Using TOCfE with MBA Students at Kyoto University
